Nota biográfica:

The degree in Germanic Philology at FLUP paved the way for my interest in English-speaking literatures.
My activity focuses on the teaching of eight subjects distributed among English Literature, Irish Literature, Translation Studies, Theater Studies.
My work at UM since 1978 has led me to focus on dramatic literature; I discovered the Irish dramaturgy that led to an MA in Essex with a thesis on “The Island of the Mighty” (Arden-Darcy) and a PhD-Theater Studies in Warwick with a thesis in JM Synge.
At UM I have worked on several pedagogical projects - coordination of Pedagogical Internships in Teaching Bachelor's degrees 1992-2003, and directing three diferente degrees.
I created a four-year degree in Applied Foreign Languages in 1999, which I directed for 6 years, and the Masters in Multilingual Translation and Communication in 2009, which I currently direct. I am a lecturer and member of the Board of Directors of the UM Theater Degree. In the Master's Degree in English Language, Literature and Culture, I teach Irish Studies. In the Doctoral Program in Comparative Modernities, I share the UC Theater and Performance with my colleague Francesca Rayner. I created an integrated postgraduate program - diploma, master's and doctoral studies in English Studies, which worked for two years at DEINA.
I belong to CEHUM research groups (GAPS), a member international associations of Irish studies and translation groups. I am a founding member of APEAA (Portuguese Association of Anglo Americam Studies) and of EFACIS (European Federation of Centres asnd Associations of Irish Studies), member of IASIL, of CERIUL (Lille3). My interest in Translation, Irish Studies and Theatre has been brought together in the Irish Itineraries Program since its inception in 2013.
